Meet Your Hosts — Mary Wye Qiqi & Rupeni Ligaqaqa Qiqi

At The Ideal Bed & Breakfast, hospitality has always been a family affair.

Mary and Rupeni Qiqi bring decades of experience, service and genuine Fijian hospitality to Ideal. Mary's journey through Fiji's tourism industry has taken her from resort operations and front office management to leadership roles across some of Fiji's well-known island and boutique properties.

Rupeni, a Senior Pastor, spent 14 years serving hotel communities throughout the Mamanuca Islands, providing pastoral care, encouragement and connection to people working in some of Fiji's busiest tourism destinations. Later, in Taveuni, he worked in tourism as a driver, tour guide and Manager on Duty — combining his natural gift for looking after people with his knowledge of Fiji.

Together, Mary and Rupeni created Ideal around a simple belief: hospitality should feel personal.

Meet the Family Behind Ideal

Ideal may have been started by Mary and Rupeni, but it is brought to life every day by the beautiful people we proudly call our Ideal Family.

There is Aunty Emma — the face of Ideal, whose warmth and familiar smile have welcomed so many guests through our doors.

Aunty Vere, our driver and tours coordinator, helps our guests get where they need to go and discover more of Fiji along the way.

Then there is Ma, together with Anna, Emily, DiSai, Jerome and Yaca — each bringing their own personality, care, laughter and contribution to the experience our guests remember.

They aren't simply our staff.

They are our family.

And when you stay at Ideal, for however long you're with us, we hope you feel part of that family too.

You may find yourself chatting with us over breakfast, sitting together for afternoon tea, asking one of the team for advice about where to go next, sharing stories on The Deck, or joining us around the table for our Sunday Fijian lunch.
